A classic account of tramping and rock-climbing in Scotland in the 1930s. This stands in interesting contrast to Murray's Mountaineering in Scotland - that book intense and philosophical compared with Borthwick's happy-go-lucky, "climbing is fun" approach. Later, Borthwick, like Murray, was caught up in the war which he wrote about (with similar contrasts) in his fine Battalion.
