Concerned by the editing of Nanga Parbat Pilgrimage, Messner and Höfler, aided by the author's widow, produced what they think a more honest version of Buhl's story (plus new commentaries and photographs). The book also completes the story with Buhl's alpine climbs of 1955 / 56 (Monte Rosa / Grand Capucin and Dru), the Broad Peak first ascent and the Chogolisa tragedy of 1957.
Not withstanding these improvements Nanga Parbat Pilgrimage remains an inspiring classic: one of the all-time great mountaineering autobiographies.Buy this book from Cordee
