Printing instructions

For optimal printing of book pages, it is recommended that the page is printed in "Landscape" mode and "Scaled-to-fit" on your printer paper. How to configure this exactly will depend on your operating system, web browser and printer software.

Instructions are below for the Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers running on Windows Vista with HP printers. Please note that these instructions will vary depending on your precise set-up, hardware and software.

If using the Mozilla Firefox 3 web browser:
  • Go to File | Print
  • In the the pop-up window that opens, click the "Properties" button
  • In the second pop-up window that opens, select the "Basics" tab
  • In the orientation section, select the "Landscape" option
  • Still in the second window, select the "Effects" tab
  • In the "Fit to page" section, select "Print Document On"
  • Select "Scale to Fit"
  • In the drop down box, select your paper size, most likely "A4"
  • Click "OK" at the bottom of the window, which will close, leaving the first window still open.
  • Click "OK" on the first window to print.
If using the Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 web browser:
  • Go to File | Print
  • In the the pop-up window that opens, click the "Preferences" button
  • In the second pop-up window that opens, select the "Printing Shortcuts" tab
  • Select the "Landscape" option from the "Orientation" drop down menu
  • Select your paper size (most likely "A4") from the "Paper Size" drop down menu
  • Still in the second window, select the "Effects" tab
  • In the "Resizing Options" section, select "Print Document On"
  • Select "Scale to Fit"
  • Click "OK" at the bottom on the window, which will close, leaving the first window still open.
  • Click "Print" on the first window to print.
